Community Evolved Hosting – Social Network?

Published on Nov 27, 2007   //  News Worthy

Evolution

We are still working on our article and customer blogs section of our site. Anyone go in and test it out yet?

I think we will be calling it the BlueFur Library. A place to go and read articles and share knowledge but of course you can be as noisy as you want to be. What do you think of name BlueFur Library?

So moving forward are we ready to have our own Social Network?

There is lots of software available and have seriously considered using SocialEngine for creating our own Social Network on BlueFur.com.

From current usage of our community tools I’m not sure we are ready to move on to having our own Social Network.

What do we need to do get Forum and Wiki usage up?

Hot Development Servers

Published on Nov 15, 2007   //  News Worthy

ServersSince launching our development servers last week they have been selling extremely well. I took some time to get some feedback from these customers as to why they picked a development server and how they are intending to use it. Here is what a few of them had to say…

Brian a web developer told me, “I have been bouncing from shared host to shared host trying to get the most up to date software so that I can develop sites for my customers. I have finally found an affordable server.”

Olivia a student shared that, “I am currently taking classes that require me to use Oracle. I have been looking for a solution where I can install and have full control of my own database. The server fits right into my budget…”

Olaf a software developer commented, “I have several successful online scripts I sell on my sites. I have not had a chance to test them using PHP 5 and MySQL 5. Finding a host that has a server that fits my needs to test my scripts is extremely valuable for the future of my online business.”

We also have sold our first Xcluster server and you can read John Chow’s review on his blog.

What’s holding you back from getting your own development server?

3 New Server Offerings

Published on Nov 12, 2007   //  News Worthy

Servers

We have launched 3 new server offerings each with their own specific target markets.

Development Server (Xdev)
This server is great for developers who wants to install and develop using the latest software. Unlike a VPS you won’t need to share any resources at all and the servers RAM and hard drives can be upgraded easily. Some great uses for these servers are PHP 5, MySQL 5, Oracle, ColdFusion, Java and Ruby on Rails. Our Xdev server is economical at $59.95 per month.

Backup Server (Xbackup)
This server has 960 GB of space running on a RAID 5 system. The server is great for large volume file storage. It is essential to do backups of your business and/or site and our backup server makes that easy. Our Xbackup server is $349.95 per month.

Cluster Servers (Xcluster)
This solution starts off with 6 servers and is scalable to fit your specific needs. The cluster system uses 2 load balancers, 2 web servers, 1 database and 1 backup server to dish up millions of hits a day. This solution is great for sites that require a high up time and have a lot of traffic. Our Xcluster solution pricing starts at $2099.95 per month.

We will be launching our SaaS servers soon but we feel these servers make for a great addition to our current server offerings.

What do you think?
