Last month, we took a brief look at the Acer Iconia-6886 Dual-Screen Touchbook. It seems like such a fascinating device, but it does cost over $1,000. If you’re looking for a much cheaper alternative that’s a little different than the rest of the crowd, then you may want to divert your attention toward the Acer Aspire ICONIA Tablet W500 instead.
Rather than use the now popular NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and Google Android combination, this tablet is powered by an AMD C-50 dual core processor and Windows 7 Home Premium. That’s because it’s probably closer to being a netbook or notebook than it is to being a tablet. Even so, it’s 10.1-inch display is actually a touchscreen, giving you tablet functionality when you need it. When you’d prefer a more traditional configuration, the included keyboard dock provides that.
Going through the rest of the technical details, you’ll find a 32GB solid state drive, 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM, 2-in-1 card reader, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port with HDCP support, Ethernet (RJ-45) port, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, integrated webcam, and built-in Bluetooth. This hybrid device really does aim to provide the best of both worlds, whether you want the traditional setup of a notebook or even more portable solution of a tablet.
The Acer Aspire ICONIA Tablet W500 BZ604 is available now through Amazon for $599.99, which is $49.01 off the regular price. This includes free Super Saver Shipping as well.
