DealDotCom WordPress Plugin – Beta 0.9

Published on Sep 25, 2007   //  DealDotCom

I think we are getting closer and closer to the end of the Beta. Some of these features were requested and now in version 0.9 are…

  • A working locally cached version that upates hourly.
  • Alignment of your plugin (left, center or right).
  • Choice between a static or dynamic image.

The static image can be used by those worried about Opera users. The dynamic image changes in various widths and heights so there is really no way to control it for those using Opera.

If you are running any prior version I urge you to upgrade. To upgrade be sure to Deactivate your plug-in, delete it and then upload the newest version.

To install the plug-in you need to…

  1. Download the DealDotCom Plugin.
  2. Unzip the file and upload to your wp-content/plugins folder.
  3. Activate the plug-in in your WordPress admin.
  4. Customize the Plug-in on the Options page.
  5. Add a bit of code to your sidebar.php file or use the Widget.

Again this script is still in Beta so use at your own risk. If you find anything wrong or any suggestion feel free to post them.

I have also posted the full script here so you can view the plug-in.

DealDotCom WordPress Plugin – Beta 0.6

Published on Sep 23, 2007   //  DealDotCom

We have listened to your requests, suggestions and issues. With the help of several people the new plug-in has some great features worked into it. Some of these features are…

  • Locally cached version of the daily deal. This will speed up load times.
  • Manual update daily deal. If for any reason the update is delayed you can update it manually.
  • Horizontal 468 X 60 banner option.
  • DealDotCom Widget so you can add the banner to your sidebar using Widgets (this needs to be activated separately).

I would also like to send out a special thanks Rainer and Matt for helping with the current version.

UPDATE – I pushed out a small update on Version 0.7 to fix a border issue and the cron update.

UPDATE - The cron did not work so I have pushed out Version 0.8.

After reading what seemed like 100′s of blog posts on the launch of DealDotCom I decided today to write a quick and dirty plugin. They currently do not have one available for WordPress and I thought it would be interesting to build my first WordPress plugin while helping fellow bloggers monetize their sites.

So the plugin looks like this after installed…
