Greetings! We hope everyone is doing well and gearing up for the holidays!

We wanted to take the time to post a recap of the year as well as add some insight as to what is coming in the new year.

2011 has been a great year! We built upon the groundwork put into place in 2010 and continued to offer premium web hosting at an exception value. Updates were performed to keep software versions current as well. We have expanded our staff tremendously so that we’re able to serve our clients when they need us!

Towards the end of 2010, we launched our new Affiliate Program! If you haven’t joined yet, jump on over and join today to start earning money!

There will be plenty to look forward to in 2012!

  • For starters, we will be launching VPS hosting. This is an often requested service, and we’ll be launching multiple options to choose from.
  • Currently, our servers are located in Montreal. We will be expanding to other cities as well – most likely Toronto and Vancouver. This will allow the selection of where a new account is located. Existing customers will be able to move their account to a different location if wanted as well!
  • Our engineering team is currently writing a significant update to our billing system. The new version will provide for tighter integration with hosting accounts, add additional features, and more!

November 2010 BlueFur Update!

Hey everyone!

We hope you’re all doing well gearing up for the holiday season. We just wanted to give everyone a glimpse of what we’re doing behind the scenes at BlueFur!

  • PHP 5.3 has been added to all servers! There are two ways to utilize PHP 5.3. The first way is to simply use a .php53 file extension for each PHP file you wish to use 5.3. The second way is to add the following line to your .htaccess file:

    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php
  • We have added the web.py python framework on all servers! For more information on web.py, please visit their website: http://webpy.org
  • Work continues on our VPS offerings! We have not yet nailed down pricing or specifications for the VPS plans, but they will naturally be on high-end, top of the line servers located in Canada.
  • We are in the process of assisting with the transfer of domain registrations to our new partner registrar. This move allows domain registrations to be easily managed right from within BlueAdmin. Additionally, the move to the new partner registrar allows us to offer more TLDs and provide more competitive pricing as well.

Hi everyone!

We just wanted to take the time to fill you in on what we have been working on over the past few months.

Server Migration
We have completed the migration of all clients to brand new state-of-the-art servers! These new servers are 2.26GHz+HT Quad Core Intel Xeon Nehalem with 12 GB RAM, RAID 10, and offsite backups. The new servers are far more reliable than the previous servers.

New Billing System
Our new billing system is in place and working wonderfully! The entire billing process was one of the biggest complaints we heard about from customers after we took over BlueFur, and we’ve heard them loud and clear! With our new billing system, you’re able to view pending and previous invoices, update your credit card information, upgrade your hosting plan, register or renew domain names — all in REAL TIME. Reseller Hosting Launched!
We launched Reseller Hosting in April! The new Reseller plans offer generous disk space and bandwidth allotments with unlimited resold accounts and all the features you could ask for using the industry-standard cPanel and WHM control panels. Our amazing 24/7 technical support and 45 day money back guarantee are both naturally included!

Phone Support and Live Online Chat
When we took over BlueFur, we had to temporarily stop offering telephone support. That was resolved and we’re again able to offer telephone sales and technical support assitance to all customers and potential customers! We’re available Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm Eastern Time, and our phone number is +1.866.606.3734.

Additionally, we launched Live Online Chat at the end of May. If you have a sales or technical support issue, you can visit our webpage and click on the “CHAT LIVE NOW!” image located at the top of the page to be instantly connected to one of our live representatives.

In the coming months, we will be releasing our VPS hosting product! It’s currently under development and will be based on Xen. Plan specs and pricing will be coming at a later date.

A New Beginning For BlueFur!

Hi everyone! I would like to formally announce that BlueFur is now under new ownership! The former owners Gary and Lisa Jones decided they wanted to focus on a new area of their lives and we have worked with them over the last few weeks to make sure the transition would be a smooth one. We wish them the best! We will be continuing their goal of making BlueFur the best hosting company possible!

Who are the new owners and what is our background? My name is Ben Welch-bolen and my business partner is Joel Brown. I’ve been working in the hosting industry for over ten years and Joel has been in the industry for the last five years. We both entered the hosting industry because we were frustrated with the lack of quality customer service and we knew we could do better. You can count on us and our staff to provide great customer service and to always be working to improve it!

What can you expect under our management? There will be no disruption or changes to your service and you can rest assured our goal is only to improve BlueFur! Below is our plan for the next six months to improve BlueFur. We will be updating the blog frequently with the progress of our plans, and we will do major updates every few months so you know what the future holds.

1. The first major improvement you will notice is that and the support department will respond within minutes to your support tickets every minute of every day! If you want to test this or say hi just email Support@BlueFur.com. The sales and billing departments will be open during business hours during the business week and will respond very quickly as well.

2. In the next 4 to 8 weeks we will also be launching live chat for support and sales so that you can easily jump online and get help with any support issue. We will send out another announcement when this feature is ready! We will also be improving the support setup so that customers can rate each ticket and staff member they interact with. We will review this info every morning to make sure we are doing a good job and to get feedback from you.

3. Over the coming months we will be greatly improving the hardware BlueFur is built upon. For our shared and reseller customers we will be increasing both the performance and reliability of the servers by upgrading the hardware on those servers and by adding RAID 10 so that if a hard drive dies on the server it will continue operating with no problem. We will also be rolling out a new and improved backup system.

4. Over the coming months we will be rolling out a new robust billing solution that will feature some major improvements! This new billing system will allow you to login and view all your services with us, make changes to those services, order new services, view past invoices and a lot more! We know the current method of billing and invoicing is unorganized and we plan to change that very quickly. We have talked to a lot of customers and this was one of the first things they mentioned they would like to see.

5. As we finish the major changes mentioned above we will start to roll out some great new features and products! Things like redundant centralized email, business class hosting, VPS, and a lot more!
