BlueFur Customer of the Week: Lattice Photography

Published on Aug 29, 2010   //  BlueFur Customer of the Week

Photography can be a very tricky business, because someone who is good at one type of photography may not necessarily be good at another. Just as you wouldn’t likely rely on a comic book author to write a deep academic essay on quantum physics, the same can be said about the photographers you choose.

If you happen to be a real estate developer or another kind of real estate professional, it can certainly pay to use the services offered by Lattice Photography. They use BlueFur as their preferred web host and they are located in Toronto. Lattice specializes in architecture and interior photography, both for print and for the web.

To get a sense of the quality you can expect from Lattice, be sure to check out the gallery page on the website. More information about the services is also available through the website, as is the contact information.

Paper maps? Who uses those anymore? When trying to make our way around the city, it’s easy enough to whip out a Garmin GPS with turn-by-turn directions. It makes perfect sense to use Google Maps on an Apple iPhone. However, what if you need mapping information that isn’t included in these devices?

For that, you can turn to the services offered by Right Point GPS, based out of Sechelt, British Columbia. This company offers “basic reconnaissance mapping services for planning property development, and resource mapping.” If you need to have a biking trail properly mapped, for instance, they can do that for you.

Looking at the services page, you can see how this kind of GPS mapping can be positively invaluable to property development, tourism-related business, and other similar situations. BlueFur Customer of the Week: Jeremy Hurn

Published on Aug 15, 2010   //  BlueFur Customer of the Week

Many choose to host their websites with BlueFur. They come from all walks of life, ranging from Internet professionals to casual sports fanatics. Artisans and other specialists also call BlueFur home and one of these fine folks happens to be Jeremy Hurn.

Based out of Bowen Island in British Columbia, Jeremy Hurn designs and creates hand-made furniture, bringing together “clean contemporary lines and the care and attention to detail found in traditional woodwork.” He creates a range of different furniture pieces and he is willing to make custom furniture to fit your specific space.

But why wouldn’t you buy the less expensive factory furniture instead? Isn’t it easier to just walk into an IKEA? Perhaps, but after taking a look at the technique and gallery pages on Hurn’s site, you may be swayed to commission some of his fine workmanship instead.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the military history of Canada? More specifically, did you want to gain some knowledge on the Royal Canadian Air Force? Look no further than RCAF.com, which happens to the BlueFur Customer of the Week.

This online resource is completely unofficial and it is not at all affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of National Defence, nor is it related to the Air Force Association of Canada. BlueFur Customer of the Week: Kathryn Mullis

Published on Aug 1, 2010   //  BlueFur Customer of the Week

Lots of creative types choose to use BlueFur for their web hosting needs, because we offer robust servers and nearly non-existent downtime. They understand the importance of reliability and one such creative type is Kathryn Mullis of Kamul.com.

She is a graphic designer based out of the Victoria area on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. We learn that she is a “sometimes crafty type” and she started out in art school with sculpture-based ambitions. Kathryn soon learned that design was more for her and she has never looked back. “Shapes, colours, a good concept and even a little illustration; design is process but one that rarely takes the same path twice.”

The online design sample area isn’t quite ready to go just yet, but you can download PDF versions of her portfolio and her resume in the meantime. After that, feel free to drop her a line to see if she can take on your design project.

BlueFur Customer of the Week: ArBa3d

Published on Jul 25, 2010   //  BlueFur Customer of the Week

We take a lot of photographs with our digital cameras these days. It’s just so easy. We’re also seeing an emerging interest in 3D technology, whether it be through the upcoming Nintendo 3DS gaming handheld, 3D televisions in our living rooms, or 3D movies at the theatre. Why not capture that 3D experience with your own pictures?

That’s precisely the idea behind ArBa3d, which just so happens to be our BlueFur customer of the week. Using this software, you can combine several photographs that you have taken of a single object, punching out a 3D rendering in the process. The process is relatively simple to understand and can be performed on just about any object that you can photograph.

You can check out some of the samples as animated GIFs to get an idea of what this software can do. You can download the demo to get you started and then compare the different versions to see which you prefer. The standard version is $39, whereas the full version is $59.
