WordPress Wednesday: WordPress for Apple iPad

Published on Apr 7, 2010   //  WordPress

You probably heard about a little product that launched (in the United States) over the weekend. It was supposed to be quite the big deal and news surrounding this device has been flooding the Internet for the last few days. Yup, we’re talking about the Apple iPad.

Many people are very excited about its release and the possibilities that it may be able to offer to the average tech-loving consumer. As a blogger, it’s also very good to hear about a new WordPress for iPad app being released, allowing you to completely manipulate your blog from the iPad just as you would from a full-fledged computer.

In short, the iPad version of WordPress is identical to the iPhone and iPod touch version, except it has been optimized to make use of that substantially larger touchscreen. No additional features were implemented for this first release, but the core features are still there: you can moderate comments, write posts, insert images, and more.

Dubbed WordPress for iPhone OS 2.4, the app will also work on the iPhone and iPod touch, but the more exciting news is that it can be used with the larger Apple iPad as well. This could prove to be the future of mobile blogging for WordPress fans, at least in the short term until a camera-equipped 3G-enabled version of the iPad is released. Apple has to be working on that, right?
