I think many people are becoming more sceptical about sales with their many caveats eg up to 50 % off, selected products etc. Sales, special offers, promotions seem to be an all year event now. I just dont get excited any more.

I feel different. For me boxing day is an occasion to be closer to my family and to stay together at home. We watch tv sometimes but the most important is eating meals together, talk, play and try to be close.

It has been common practice to offer Boxing Week sales for quite a while now. I don't think that part is anything new. Usually the sales that last all week just aren't as attractive as the limited specials offered only on Boxing Day. Stores will still offer extra incentive specifically on Boxing Day. Since the sales are better than any other sale during the year, the tradition will continue for many years to come. Retailers will always want to clear some extra stock at the end of the year too.
