One of the most time consuming things with registering is setting up your profile. I know a lot of people skip or fill in the bare minimum when it comes to profiles on social media sites.
I on the other hand recommend you take your time and fill in everything you can. If your doing it for your business be sure to make it clear what your business does and what your an Expert on in your business.
Be sure to include links to your site(s). If there is an ability to to have more then one link then cross link to your other social media sites. If someone is interested in you on youtube chances are they will want to know more at twitter and facebook.
I also recommend that you have a landing page for these social sites so you can highlight what these users might be interested in.
Here is a tutorial I posted on how to push people from twitter to a landing page of your choice. The tutorial can easily be modified to work for facebook and youtube.
For some that might be overkill but even just posting your link as http://yourdomain.ca/twitter would work as well in your profile.
Be sure to include a photo in your profile. A picture of you or your company logo/branding is very important.
If you have holes in your profile go now and update them.
