I have seen lots of people get there twitter accounts get hacked. There are some percautions you can take that will help prevent you getting your account hacked.
- Do not save your twitter username and password at any site at all.
- Any message that comes in that asks you to download something it is most likely harmful.
- Anyone that says they work for twitter asking your for a password do not work for them. They have complete access to your site already.
- Change your password frequent and ensure to use good mixture of characters and numbers.
For some people they value there twitter account highly. For them I suggest they apply all these rules. If your account is not very valuable then by all means don’t follow any of them.
If I test out a service I always use a test account which is the smarter way to go.
