Keeping up with your WordPress blog does not mean that you need to be bound to a computer. More than ever, people are coming to rely on their smartphones to keep them connected with the world around them. We use them for Twitter, email, and Facebook, so why not do the same with your blog?
It may have taken a little bit of time, but the official WordPress for BlackBerry public beta has been launched as of earlier this week. Using the special application for your BlackBerry device, you’ll be able to manage just about every aspect of your blog anywhere you happen to be in the world. This is a native app, but bear in mind that it is still in beta. As such, it should work, but there may still be some bugs that need to be fixed.
The user interface will feel very familiar for most BlackBerry users and it grants access to a range of WordPress blog tools. From within the app, you’ll be able to write and edit your blog posts, of course, but you can also upload pictures directly from your smartphone’s camera or from the image gallery. In this way, it might not be a bad idea to use a microSD card adapter in your point-and-shoot camera to get better pictures than what your BlackBerry’s camera can produce. The BlackBerry WordPress app also allows for comment moderation, something that WPhone cannot do.
Currently, the WordPress for BlackBerry app supports the BlackBerry Bold, Curve 8900, Storm, and 8700. Head over to WordPress.org for a short demo video, more information, and instructions to download the beta application on your BlackBerry device.
