		<description>I wonder if Acura is shooting for the middle market rather than the upper (luxury) market. In my mind, Acura is the zone between a Honda and a Mercedes. Other brands in that zone include Volvo and Infinity. One example of this is the fact that Acura pricing is more in line with Volvo and Infinity than Mercedes and Lexus. On the other hand, some Acura models can exceed the price of low-end Mercedes or Lexus prices. I agree that if Acura is targeting the luxury market, it has done a very poor job.</description>

		<description>Lexus is made by Toyota, and I think that Honda was trying to emulate their marketing model by releasing the Acura as a seperate brand altogether. As a matter of interest, here in South Africa Mercedes originally launched the Honda brand, and they manufacured / assembled Honda for many many years, which gave the Honda brand a certain status in the local market.</description>
