I haven't upgraded to wordpress 2.8 yet on my personal blog, I did however watch the video from the main wordpress website about some of the new upgrades contained within wordpress, and I must say I am quite impressed. Although I won't be using the integrated themes features, its quite impressive what they have done with it. I like that I hear about speed improvements I hope it also applies to the back end and caching of the websites.

I think a plugin might not be compatible with the new version, so it's nice to check for new versions of them and deactivate any that may cause problems. You can reactivate plugins one-by-one after the upgrade. This is particularly important when upgrading to WordPress 2.7!
