Update WordPress 2.8
Posted on June 10th, 2009
Attention bloggers if you have manually installed WordPress then you should upgrade to 2.8. This upgrade makes improvements to themes, widgets, taxonomies and overall speed. Also over 790 bugs are fixed in 2.8.
For those who installed WordPress with Fantastico, Netenberg usually has the upgrade released a week or two later. We do post Fantastico updates on the blog so keep an eye open for that.
Please also note we will post when it is time for Managed Blog hosting customers to upgrade in this blog.

I had the Google Analytics plugin not work on the upgrade. I have notified the plugin owner already.
I think a plugin might not be compatible with the new version, so it’s nice to check for new versions of them and deactivate any that may cause problems. You can reactivate plugins one-by-one after the upgrade. This is particularly important when upgrading to WordPress 2.7!
I haven’t upgraded to wordpress 2.8 yet on my personal blog, I did however watch the video from the main wordpress website about some of the new upgrades contained within wordpress, and I must say I am quite impressed. Although I won’t be using the integrated themes features, its quite impressive what they have done with it. I like that I hear about speed improvements I hope it also applies to the back end and caching of the websites.
