Twitter Question of the Week

Published on Mar 15, 2009   //  Polls

This week on twitter I asked, How long did it take to design your website?

Here is what was said…

authorlisalogan @bluefur I worked on my site for 1 mo using a premade template last summer. Now I already want to redo the whole thing
stephenfung @bluefur It’s an ongoing, never ending process :)
sarach @bluefur http://hex.io/dgg: about 20 minutes – I won a free design from UBD. =) But usually a blog/site design takes me about a week.
jemmen @bluefur heh – I’ve been ‘working on it’ for a year now. It’s just not at the top of my list :P
sapheyerblu @bluefur Completely? It took me about 3 days
dtinth @bluefur It usually takes 2 days for me.
angelashupe @bluefur Which one? (LOL) I use WP for all but 2 blogs. It took me a day, max, on each to pick up everything I needed to put them together.
bosssanders @bluefur Approximately a week…
TrinityRS @bluefur Three months for the logo/brand design (business cards, etc), 2 weeks for actual site design/customization: http://bit.ly/19XhXg
Thinkreferrals @bluefur how long to develop my website? Well, 2 years so far including the Blog, but it was a massive development project.
michaelkwan @bluefur Over a year of passive back-and-forth with @mattfreedman. It was a backburner project.
lg245 @bluefur Which time? Just overhauled mine & made it very simple.Took awhile to get pics together for the slideshow, but overall, not long.
bman31 @bluefur I’m new to creating websites and it is not as easy as it seems ,I’d say that I’ve been working on mine for 2 months just fixing it
JohnChow @bluefur It took me zero time because I subbed out the work to UniqueBlogDesigns.com :)

So How long did it take to design your website?

  • Grrrr….. I had a neighbour take the content I wanted up on it and put it into some type of computer language. Then had another friend ‘tart it up’ with some graphic design. I subsequently learned it is entirely the wrong language to ever get picked by Google. Then I got Adobe Contribute to do some updates. Then decided on a Blog thru some program that kept sending me messages about updates but would never update. Now it is an online brochure with no updates or changes! Gotta love technology!

  • Usually takes me 6-12 hours for a mock up(design)… Coding is another thing though.

Coding all depends on how complicated the UI is.
