As a freelance writer working from home, it can get really quiet at the “office.” I always have music (or the TV) playing in the background to maintain some semblance of sanity. It also helps to improve productivity.
Music is a great source of inspiration for my writing too, as it can help develop ideas and put a “rhythm” to them.

As a new immigrant I had to leave most of my stuff behind me and when you do work from home on your computer all day long on making websites, musical inspiration is vital !

From a conceptual perspective, music is like the seasoning on food for the soul. Each day, our eyes and ears gather information processed by logic and emotion, but information alone is not sufficient to satisfy the soul. Music fills the void by nourishing a deeper part of the soul. Music offers color, spice, and aroma to what would otherwise leave us feeling partly dissatisfied.
As a result, music can be used as a tool to help complete the whole person, providing distraction and energy when exercising, enhancing various forms of entertainment, offering background to various activities, or becoming a feast for the ears when finding an especially enjoyable song or CD.
This is how music affects my life.

I normally don’t like having music while working; it’s just another distraction for me. But! Whenever my creative juices run low or I am stumped and doesn’t know the next thing to do with a project, I just start the music and I’m instantly recharged.

I’m not a musician, I’m not a specialist, but it doesn’t stop me from being able to appreciate it. I do love some types of music, and I appreciate the fact that I’m able to listen to what I want at work (wearing headphones, of course!). It sure beats the generic, in-house music system I had to endure at my previous job.
I invested a few months ago in a wireless speakers setup, which allows me to broadcast music from my computer to anywhere in the house, and even outside (within limits). I don’t use it daily, but it’s definitely great to create an ambiance in some situations, and it makes some tasks go by much easier: paiting a whole room is more fun when you have a nice background beat.

Music affects my life in a way that even for a few moments listening to music I feel relaxed and somehow revitalize from the every day activities. Everyday I came home from school, I listen to music to clear my mind of different stressful things in order to have a suiting and well relaxed mind that will be needed in reviewing my lesson. It also affect my perception in life since it shows the different reality of life. Music has a melody which we sing into while listening on it. Thanks to music I have a different perception in life, that everyday is a new song which has a different melody and rhythm, that is up to us to not just to sing but also dance in the melody and rhythm of life. This is how music affect my life.
Hope I get chosen, Is the shipping free??just wondering

Music affects my life intimately. I’ve played guitar and sang since 13 and still have the same feeling of amazement of the clarity felt when completely connected to the music. Singing has to be honest and not contrived to me. It’s the rawness and unexpected imperfections in a live small gig is where I get lost. Like when seeing legend Jr Wells at the Yale. Pure brilliance.
However on the other end of the spectrum when I saw Jesus Christ Superstar three times at the Queen E in the 90s with the original singers from the movie Ted Neely and Carl Anderson. As soon as I heard they were coming and tickets went on sale I bought myself 3 tickets, 3 nights in a row in the best seats I could afford …. I would stop breathing when they hit those crazy rock operatic notes then start to cry.
That’s a small example of how music affects me and my life.
Cheers!

I’ll keep it short and sweet. I work better with music playing in the background. I concentrate better, code faster and I am more precise. I also need a decent set of speakers to drown out the kids!

Music is like air to my lungs. It can sway me in any direction and yet I can allow it to sway me. It’s intertwined with my moods.
It’s good for the brain, especially for little kids and this is why I get my babies involved in all sorts of music. I love not anyone genre – I love the spice of the variety offered by musicians from all over the world.
I simply love music. It’s like air to me.

I lost music for a long time, somehow — and I thought it was me, just being busy or whatever, but it wasn’t. It was the music. I’d been listening to the same things, the same types of music, for so long that it had become part of me and wasn’t stirring me any more. So I’ve become a music explorer again, listening to new artists, indie music, foreign groups –the excitement is back. And I can listen to my old music still, and love it, because the new music is showing me new things about it *to* love.

At age 62 I decided against joining one of our many community committees and did something for myself for a change and joined our Community Choir! I have not sung since about grade 10! I have just purchased my FIRST iPod and am loving reintroducing myself to music instead of ‘talk radio’ and television. What a change it has made!

Music to me is like breathing, it’s something I need everyday, or I feel dead. Music soothes me and helps me concentrate, it calms me down if I’m upset, and gives me something I can enjoy every day.
