The temperatures are quickly dropping, so what better thing to do than to curl up next to the fireplace and roast some marshmallows… while reading some great posts on your laptop! Some people like technology, others focus on entertainment, and others still have their interests like elsewhere, so I’ve put together a fine collection of blog posts that give you a little taste of everything. Enjoy and have a relaxing weekend!
The way into a man’s heart is through his stomach. Hummingbird604 has finally made its way over to a self-hosted WordPress solution and one of the first posts by Raul is a review of the Alibi Room in Gastown. He found himself there for breakfast, ordering some delicious scrambled eggs and chorizo sausage. It looks like a great place for a Sunday brunch.
I grew up knowing it as Z95.3 and it wasn’t that long ago that we were introduced to 95 Crave for the first time. Now Buzz Bishop is letting us know that the popular Vancouver radio station is undergoing yet another transition, relaunching itself as Virgin Radio next year. This brand brings a lot of energy and fresh thinking to the table, even if Buzz has been there pretty well since the beginning.
What happens when you use a pseudonym? Thursday Bram educates us on the issue of pen names and copyrights. Even if you publish a work under a name other than your legal one, you still hold a legal copyright over that piece of writing, music, or other creative work. It’s just that the rules are a little different in terms of a timeline.
Working out your budget for next year? Tyler Cruz offers us a glimpse into the world of an Internet professional, describing where he spends his money. Seeing how we live in Canada, it really shouldn’t be all that surprising that the biggest piece of the pie is taken by the taxman. No fancy cars and elaborate bling for Tyler, unfortunately.
Vancouver is something of a technology hub and we’ve got a lot of great websites based out of our fair city. “Miss604” Rebecca Bollwitt is probably one of the better known faces in the local sphere and she’s the one organizing the Best of 604 Awards. Nominations are now closed and voting is underway. You may recognize some of your favorites among the nominees… including the BlueFur Blog for Best Business Blog!
