We are currently working on building a Dedicated Server Reseller program. We would like to get your input on how you would see something like this working?

Other providers system works as following…

  • You sign-up and agree to being a value added reseller (VAR).
  • You are able to order servers at a discount.
  • You usually need to purchase 1-3 servers before a discount applies.
  • Discounts usually are tired to bigger discounts for more servers sold.

Here is some things I would like to see in it…

  • A program that is more beneficial for the reseller. Current programs seem to be more beneficial for the host.
  • A system where the reseller can build the server specs and purchase w/o waiting for a custom quote.
  • Our program should be based on the keyword ‘easy’ and ‘helpful’ and not on cheap.

If you were to set up your own Dedicated Server Reseller program how would you like to see it?

Great Gadgets: Sony Ericsson C905 Camera Phone

Published on Nov 3, 2008   //  Gadgets

Have you tried taking a picture with your cell phone lately? While the quality is certainly improving, most people would say that the images produced by camera phones are nowhere near as good as those produced by even the cheapest of point-and-shoot digital cameras. Let’s not even bring DSLRs into the discussion, because there’s no way that a camera phone could compete with those more professional-grade cameras.

It’s arguable whether this is as good as a regular digital camera, but you have to admit that the new Sony Ericsson C905 has to be one of the best camera phones to date. They say that you shouldn’t rely solely on the megapixel count to determine the relative quality of a camera, but when you have a cell phone that takes 8 megapixel stills, you can’t help but to be impressed. If you are second-guessing the quality of this camera phone, you may want to take a look at the ad that Sony Ericsson took out in FHM. Believe it or not, the photo used in that ad was actually shot using the C905. I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

Among the non-camera features are an accelerometer sensor for auto-rotation, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot, HSDPA, 802.11b/g WiFi with DLNA, stereo Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio with RDS, MP3 player, TV out, aGPS, picture editing, and Google Maps. Impressive!

Weekend Projects – Finding Trends

Weekend Project

Are you in an industry that is on the rise? If you have a chance to read a book by Seth Godin called the Dip you will learn that you should really look at trends when it comes to your business. Google Trends has been available for awhile and has been good for looking at what is hot for searches now. The problem is that you can not really see a trend if you are looking only at now. Just recently Google Trends has allowed you to view the search results over time and see trends.

Here is the trend for the search web hosting

Interesting that since 2004 it has been on a steady decline.

Here is the trend for the search blog

Looking at this trend should someone be staying in hosting?

You can create these trend reports yourself and look at what you should consider for the planning of your site and business.

Not sure if there is niche words your site should target for SEO? The same tool provides a good indicator of search words on the rise. Let’s take the word webkinz as an example. You may already target the main keywords but what about these ten?

If not you should obviously look at ways of optimizing your site to use these words.

Your task this week is to plan for the future and tweak your keywords.

If you get stuck let me know in the comments.
