November is Movember month! What the Mo is Movember? Movember is a charity event held during November each year to help raise awareness and money for prostate cancer. Did you know…
-
Every year around 24,700 Canadian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 4,300 die of the disease, making it the number one cancer threat to Canadian men.
-
1 in 7 men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime.
-
All men over the age of 40 are potentially at risk and should talk to their doctor about the disease and early detection. Prostate cancer is 95% curable if detected and treated early.
I have started team BlueFur and have already let my stubble grow. To join my Movember team register and follow the steps on the site. Once registered you’ll be sent all the information you need to get donations and get growing as part of my Movember team.
You will need these details to complete your online registration:
-
Captain’s Registration Number: 1931331
- Captain’s Email Address:Â gjones[@]bluefur.com
The money raised by Movember is donated directly to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada who will use the funds to create awareness and fund research across the country into prevention, detection and treatment, with a goal to ending the threat of prostate cancer.
What can you do to help?
- Join team BlueFur and spread the word.
- Donate to Movember.
I will update with a picture once a week for the month of November and provide our teams updates on our blog.

This is a noble cause, one that gets very little attention and lies in the shadow of the larger and better publicized breast cancer campaigns. I am proud to support a company that supports charitable causes, mustache worthy charitable causes especially :).

I think the only way I could look ok with a moustache is with a drawn-on or attached (like, a fake moustache) :)

I think that would be awsome. The more creative the better. It’s all about awareness.

I had already formed a team of my own but I like seeing that you guys are all participating.
Has anyone tried to donate with the PayPal option? I just tried to donate to you guys now and after selecting PayPal and entering my amount, I am taken to a screen to search for a person or team. Doesn’t seem to be working properly – will have to try again later.
