Great Gadgets: Sony Ericsson C905 Camera Phone

Published on Nov 3, 2008   //  Gadgets

Have you tried taking a picture with your cell phone lately? While the quality is certainly improving, most people would say that the images produced by camera phones are nowhere near as good as those produced by even the cheapest of point-and-shoot digital cameras. Let’s not even bring DSLRs into the discussion, because there’s no way that a camera phone could compete with those more professional-grade cameras.

It’s arguable whether this is as good as a regular digital camera, but you have to admit that the new Sony Ericsson C905 has to be one of the best camera phones to date. They say that you shouldn’t rely solely on the megapixel count to determine the relative quality of a camera, but when you have a cell phone that takes 8 megapixel stills, you can’t help but to be impressed. If you are second-guessing the quality of this camera phone, you may want to take a look at the ad that Sony Ericsson took out in FHM. Believe it or not, the photo used in that ad was actually shot using the C905. I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

Among the non-camera features are an accelerometer sensor for auto-rotation, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot, HSDPA, 802.11b/g WiFi with DLNA, stereo Bluetooth 2.0, FM radio with RDS, MP3 player, TV out, aGPS, picture editing, and Google Maps. Impressive!

  • I’m not a big gadget-head, but even I’m impressed with this. Nice looking phone.

  • I’m looking for the new cell phone. Thanks for this information. I would love to have a phone with the good quality camera. I just hope this phone can work with Rogers network.(?)

  • cell phones are crap when taking low light shots. and the megapixels are actually less important than the size of the sensor

  • Wow, great looking phone. I have the Sony Ericsson K790 with the 3.2 mega pixel camera and its amazing in and of itself. When I went on my last vacation I just took the phone and nobody notices. Its great for portraits and such, just not very good for zoom or scenery.

  • Slick phone! The camera on my Moto Q9c is a bit lacking. The pictures are fuzzy and washed out. It certainly beats my previous phone’s camera, but it still leaves a lot to be desired.
