Perhaps the most common memory card format used for cellular phones these days is microSD. These are the thumbnail-sized memory cards that are found in all sorts of different mobile phones, but the standard microSD format, like the full-sized SD memory card format, is limited to just 2GB of storage. That’s why they created the slightly different SDHC and microSDHC memory card formats to accommodate even more memory.
While not all phones will be able to recognize the greater capacity without an appropriate firmware update, it’s good to know that there are some rather impressive options out there for giving your phone plenty of room for important documents, MP3 music files, video files, and whatever else you want to enjoy on your own.
SanDisk recently expanded its microSDHC lineup with the introduction of a 16GB card. That’s right. It’s a 16GB microSDHC memory card! In this way, your HTC smartphone can have just as much space as 16GB iPhone 3G. Online pricing for the 16GB SanDisk microSDHC card is in the $60 to $80 range.
