Listen to Shoutcast on your iPhone

As I start to get things ready for the launch of XmasRadio just 9 weeks from now I did a bit of testing to see if I could listen to streaming shoutcast on my iPhone. It turns out it is possible…
- Download the Tuner application on your iPhone.
- Open the Tuner application.
- Click on Search and then Open.
- Enter the Name - Shoutcast Radio NameÂ
- Enter the URL – http://209.172.55.149:8585
- Click on Done.
I also did a quick search to see if you can listen to shoutcast on your Blackberry. It appears you can do that using RadioBee.

I set up a Shoutcast stream from my XM radio in my office so that we can listen at various workstations, and this is a great way to listen via iPhone as well.
Just FYI, I have 1st Gen iPhone (with Edge rather than 3G), and even with a strong cell signal, I can’t stream for more than a few seconds at a time. I’ll have to experiment with lower Shoutcast bitrates.
