Listen to Shoutcast on your iPhone

As I start to get things ready for the launch of XmasRadio just 9 weeks from now I did a bit of testing to see if I could listen to streaming shoutcast on my iPhone. It turns out it is possible…

  1. Download the Tuner application on your iPhone.
  2. Open the Tuner application.
  3. Click on Search and then Open.
  4. Enter the Name - Shoutcast Radio Name 
  5. Enter the URL – http://209.172.55.149:8585
  6. Click on Done.

I also did a quick search to see if you can listen to shoutcast on your Blackberry. It appears you can do that using RadioBee.

    Thanks for the post!

    I set up a Shoutcast stream from my XM radio in my office so that we can listen at various workstations, and this is a great way to listen via iPhone as well.

    Just FYI, I have 1st Gen iPhone (with Edge rather than 3G), and even with a strong cell signal, I can’t stream for more than a few seconds at a time. I’ll have to experiment with lower Shoutcast bitrates.
