“WordPress would work so much better if it just had this one plugin…â€
We have built several WordPress plugins either by scratch, modifying another plugin or with the help of other designers. As we have a large community of WordPress users on this blog I thought it might be interesting to create a weekly call out for WordPress Plugin Requests.
Do you have any WordPress plugin requests?
Last weeks plugin requests were…
- The ability to have a recurring post option.
- A single sign on between WordPress and laconica.
- A plugin that can turn WordPress into a Pligg-style voting site.
- A plugin to change the background of each post based on the author.
I am currently working on the background for each post based on the author. If you would like to build one then leave a comment so we know you are working on it.

It may be impossible based on the excerpt function as it exists but I would kill for a plugin that put the excerpt, or teaser, right above the content. This would enable readers to scan “summaries” of posts on a page.
I already achieved this effect but what I need is a genius to figure out how to only show the excerpt when there is an excerpt. If it is blank, then WordPress will always return a clipping from the beginning creating a doubling which looks terrible.
Anyway … you asked ;)

Hi there
My name is Rel, and I understand from your blog that you consider wordpress plugin requests.
I know Im not hosted with you, but I thought it worth a try asking.
I run two blogs, and each has between 40-50 plugins.
Ive recently had some downtime on one of the websites, and have recently fixed it (ish).
Each installation uses different plugins, each for different reason, although many are shared.
I have the idea that it would be really helpful to be able to compare the plugins from each installation in an easy to see way from either wordpress installation. Im not sure exactly how this would work. I was thinking you would obviously have to be signed in on both for it to work. The reason I want this right now, is so i can compare plugins on each site, which should leave me with only a few plugins that could of caused my websites down time.
A further expansion of this could be the ability to copy one plugin to the other site where it is not already.
Of course, if you were to create this plugin and allow me to use it, i would publicize it on my freeware blog and some forums i use.
