I'm always up for negative comments, but I'm also with Rebecca. If the comment attacks/insults a loved one or a friend - it will NOT get approved. If it attacks me, I think I'll basically just see where things go. If the attacker doesn't have a basis, I'll respond over email.

Negative comments, for sure - different points of view and opinions are always welcome and I think are very important on a business blog as well, you can't always have the voice of the "happy customer" if you want to seem like a real living-breathing company that listens to the consumer.

On the other hand... if a comment on my personal blog is personally attacking/insulting my loved ones or friends, it will not get approved. If it's attacking me... we'll see - depends if I know the commenter or not ;)

I'm in complete agreement with Michael. The only time I could see removing a comment is if a person gets hateful towards others. As long as it stays civil, I welcome negative comments and enjoy them as it provides an opportunity for open dialog and the exchange of different opinions.

Absolutely. Negative comments help to provide the other side of the issue and help to spark conversation. The two sides can then debate via your comments and this could prove to be a great source of repeat traffic.
