Geek of the Week

Congratulations to this weeks geek Rinko. Has Matt met his match? This weeks questions are…

1.  Who invented the QWERTZ keyboard?

2.  What year did Fisher Price introduce their first keyboard?

3.  What type of keyboard did the Commodore Amiga have?

4.  What continent predominately uses an AZERTY keyboard?

5.  What are 2 home keys on a Dvorak Simplified Keyboard?

1. Germans adapted the Qwertz.

2. Fisher Price never made a keyboard.

3. quite similar to today’s Windows keyboards, but having a left and right “Amiga” key (bearing the “A” of the (former) Amiga logo in black on the left and outlined on the right). It also has a dedicated “Help” key. It doesn’t have keys like “Insert” or “Print”, though. It also only has 10 function keys, instead of the 12 common to IBM PC keyboards.

4. Europe

5. U and H

1. The Germans
3. Quite similar to the IBM PC 101-keys keyboard, but with subtle differences: Two Amiga keys. Only two keys “Help” and “Del” in the of “PgUp”, “PgDown”, “Pos1″, “End”, “Inst” and “Del”. Doesn’t have keys like “Print Screen”, “Scroll Lock” or “Break”. It also only had 10 function keys
4. Used by the French and Belgians – so Europe I guess
5. E and T – Dvorak Simplified is optimized to have the most used letters in the English language in the home row (like E, T, O, H, A)

Tricky questions this week!
