I got an email today from Mark over at 45n5.com about his launch of ShowYourAdHere (SYAH). This new site helps you manage and sell your site ads. If you sell ads on your site you may want to consider a service like this.
So how does it work?
As a publisher you sign-up and add your inventory of ads space into the site. You then add a widget to your site where that ad would be placed. You will never need to edit the code on your site again as all administration is then done through the SYAH site. You can manage multiple site and ads all in one management tool now.
Once an ad is approved and sold through the SYAH site it will be automatically added to your site. Payment is accepted through the SYAH site and they take a 25% cut of all sales.
Should you use this service?
I think it is good for a site that is just starting out. This will drive marketers to your site and you can start generating revenue. It may not be a lot of revenue but when your starting out any revenue can be good.
Suggestions
I think the domain is not easy to remember and would suggest they buy a domain that is more brandable. I have one that is suitable if they are interested (marketinghunter.com).
The site design is okay but I am not sure it will drive a lot of high-end advertisers in to the network. I would suggest Mark hire a graphic designer to be the ying to his PHP yang.
What do you think of this type of service?

The idea is good , but the thing is i’m sure there is something out there like this already.
Possibly adbrite is similar. Also i’m sure there is many other advertising/publisher programs out there that how this kind of feature.
Now the most important thing is , you need advertisers or publishers will not likely use your programs.
Its a start, could use better design.

Thanks a bunch for the writeup!
@nick – I couldn’t find anything that offers the ability to do what ShowYourAdHere.com does.
99% of ad networks after you put their widget on your site control your inventory. If it’s unsold with them, tough luck. If it’s unsold with ShowYourAdHere.com it’s your inventory, load it up with whatever ads you want.
@gary – “Should you use this service?”
I think the number 1 reason people should use it is because they can manage multiple adzones across multiple blogs from a single location with the ability to geotarget their ads and rotate them….
Even if ads aren’t someones cup of tea, you could use it to manage “zones” on your blog, split test signup boxes etc.
I designed it myself. I agree it’s not the best, but I kinda like the name ;)
Plus it’s brand new, more to come….
The feedback was excellent, thanks.

I know what you mean. On google adsense when you create a new ad you put the code on your site. Then you can change it latter on adsense , instead of going to your site changing the codes. They dont offer you to put your own ads on the site though. That is the one think that makes you unique.
