Navigating your way around town just got a little more interesting. There are plenty of portable GPS devices available on the market and it can sometimes be difficult to choose the one that’s right for you. It doesn’t help that they all start to sound the same after a while, proclaiming that they boast the latest SiRFStar III technology, turn-by-turn directions, and a huge library filled with points of interest. At the very least, the HP iPAQ 312 Travel Companion will be fun to look at.
That’s because instead of providing you with a boring two-dimensional map, the directions given are in three dimensions and what’s more, landmarks are actually depicted on the screen itself. As you can see through through the provided picture above (courtesy of Aving.net), the Eiffel Tower is just to your left. Even lesser known buildings appear to be included in the maps, because a little further down the road to the right is a cluster of buildings.
Other features on the HP iPAQ 312 Travel Companion include a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display, Windows CE 5.0, a 600MHz processor, 1700mAh battery, SD memory expansion, and Bluetooth 2.0.
