In The Sphere: Rhetoric, Themes, and Jogging for the Bog

Published on Sep 7, 2007   //  In the Sphere

It’s Friday, so it’s time to have a look at what the blog sphere is talking about this week. In the world of technology, the new army of iPods is probably taking center stage in most people’s minds, but we’ve managed to find at least five posts that have nothing to do with Steve Jobs and his goal of world domination. Well, at least not directly.

The Webd360 Blog takes a look at rhetoric and surprisingly, Beyond the Rhetoric doesn’t make an appearance. Instead, the discussion turns to logos, pathos, and ethos, the three primary components of rhetoric. Want to convince someone to do something? Then you’ll want to check out these “principles of appealing.”

Vandelay Website Design — no relation to Vandelay Industries, as far as I know — tells you how to successfully switch your WordPress theme without throwing your computer through the window. Both John Chow and ShoeMoney are rocking new themes and the transition has been relatively seamless. If you’re ready for a new look, you might want to know how to avoid throwing your computer out the window too.

ThinkReferrals Blog Network is showing its full support for the Jog for the Bog charity event. If you get your registration in before the early bird deadline (September 10th), you get a free t-shirt! Check out jog4thebog.com for more details.

Four (or Five!) Reasons Why is a fascinating new blog that dishes out, well, reasons why something is the way it is or why something should happen. This week, one of the topics was reasons why we should get rid of the penny. After all, what can you buy for a penny these days? It’s not even enough to get a piece of candy at the corner store!

Ed Lau had the opportunity to get jiggy with Where the Hell is Matt. There are two hilarious videos embedded in that post that you simply have to see to believe. You’ll laugh so hard, you’ll cry.

  • Thanks for the link! And no, there’s no relation to Vandelay Industries :)

  • The new ipods really are cool, but I’ll try to stay away from that since its not really on topic with my blog. Anyway, thanks for the link :)
