All week I am sure you heard about how great or bad the iPhone is and probably have been deciding if you would purchase one or not.
I have decided that I will not be getting an iPhone. I do not like the typing feature on it and the cost for the monthly plan based on current Canadian plans will be a fortune. I prefer my hiptop (sidekick) that does everything I need it to.
Have you decided if you will buy one when it is available in Canada? Please explain your decision.

I’d like to get one, but I doubt I will, for awhile. Plus, I’d probably wait until a new iPhone comes out, with all the features people want. I mean, the iPhone now can’t even record Video.
I think Rogers will make iPhone plans that will be similar to AT&T’s. They’ll have unlimited data, and they won’t cost an arm, leg and a lung to pay for.
Don’t be surprised if RIM comes out with a new Blackberry that feature’s multi-touch technology and an even larger screen than the iPhone (think of the Blackberry Curve, take away the keyboard, buttons and wheel, make the screen the size of the device and make the screen have multi-touch. Then add tons of awesome Data-consuming features ;) ).
I actually like the Blackberry Curve, it’s a nice phone. It’d look better in Black, though… :P Actually, I think there is a Black Curve…
I have a feeling I’ll be using my RAZR for a little longer, though. ;)

When it comes to cell phones, I am about as low-tech as you can get. While I don’t still carry a bag phone, I do stick with whatever phones are offered for free when I sign up for a plan.
Right now I am carrying a Samsung flip phone that was offered for free by T-Mobile. As such, there is absolutely no way that I would pay this kind of money for an iPhone or any other cell phone for that matter.

The price of iPhone is much less of an issue than data plans. There was a good article in Georgia Straight last week comparing different data plans. Basically, there is no such thing as unlimited data plan for Canadians.
Prices range from $100 for 50Mb at Fido to $5-$7 per Mb at Rogers and Belus. There is no real competition in Canada for data and carrier equipment is outdated.
On my 6620 I get only 14.4kbit/s even it’s EDGE capable (theoretically the network should give rates 10 times faster than that).
