Nowadays, just about everyone is on a broadband internet connection, meaning that we are more capable than ever to enjoy fantastic multimedia content over the web. Quality is quickly improving and the same can be said about video conferencing. Years ago, you’d be restricted to some rather grainy, low-resolution webcams that could barely keep up with your movements. Things have come a long way since then.

Most recently, Logitech announced a pair of webcams — the QuickCam 9000 for Desktops and the Quickcam Pro for Notebooks — that feature HD-quality capabilities. Stills can be captured at a decent 2.0 megapixels, whereas video can be recorded at 720p HDTV-quality. Both webcams also come with Carl Zeiss optics, RightSound noise cancellation, and what Logitech calls a silent autofocus system. The autofocus is fast and fluid, as demonstrated by the video embedded above.

Both the desktop and laptop variants are expected to start shipping this month with a retail price of about 100 bucks (each).
