Great Gadgets: A Solar-Powered Toyota Prius Hybrid

Through my daily journeys on the inter-web, I come across a lot of fascinating gadgetry and technology. Some of it is actually useful, some of it is purely for aesthetics, and the rest just gets you to go WTF. I’ll let you decide which category suits this automobile the best.

A company has taken what appears to be a regular, everyday Toyota Prius Hybrid and outfitted it with a series of solar panels to further increase its fuel economy and environmental friendliness. These sun-catching panels are said to increase “gas mileage by 17% to 29%.” Solar Electric Vehicles of California (where else?) can perform the same solar-fitting surgery to other hybrid cars like the “Highlander, Rav4 EV, Escape, or Sprinter Hybrid.”

So, how is this a great gadget for business? Well, if you’re the type that is always on the road, making sales calls and doing product presentations, I’d imagine that you’d save a significant amount of gas by doing this modification. You might want to avoid all those stickers on the side though… because they add weight.

Discussion: Law of Attraction

Weekly Discussion

I attended the SEEDS 10 year Anniversary celebration last night and had a chance to listen to the keynote speaker Michael J. Losier. Michael is the writer of a successful book The Law of Attraction. This book and concept is very successful and follows a similar theme as The Secret.

The basic concept is this…

“Your thoughts and words effect your feelings. Your feelings send out either positive or negative vibrations. The law of attraction says that your vibrations return back to you that which you want. So if you were to put focus, attention and believe that you are going to be successful then you will be.”

Have you ever thought about someone and they phoned or visited you? That is the law of attraction in work. The whole concept falls in to the world of Quantum Physics. Do you believe in these concepts?

Share your own law of attraction story and win a free copy of The Law of Attraction. To qualify post a comment with your story. A winner will be randomly drawn next Saturday from those that comment.

200 Posts and Counting

Published on Jun 1, 2007   //  News Worthy

200th PostI am not sure if it is a milestone or not but today we achieved our 200th post. When I started the blog I was not sure we would ever get this far but I am seeing a lot of benefits to the blog.

Together as a community we have accomplished a lot in the first 200 posts. Imagine what we will do in our next 200 posts.

We are getting very close to starting our  Group Programming Projects which is a direct result of this blog.

We are a few weeks away from having Infernodrive 100% online and working the way we ant it. Again this was an initiative driven by the users of the blog.

Also we are just finishing our own RBL setup and will be looking to you as a community on how we should best manage that and your ideas on how an RBL should be run.

If you have been hesitant to join the community and comment then now is the time to get involved. This is not just our blog it is your blog and we listen to our customers to find areas of growth for our business.

In the Sphere: Thinking About Google’s Emails in the Restaurant Business

Published on Jun 1, 2007   //  In the Sphere

It’s that time of the week again where we go through the blogosphere and sift out some of the most interesting reads that have been published. We strive to provide you with a good smattering of variety so that there’s a little something for everyone. Enjoy and have a good weekend!

Normally, I would speed-link to a post like this, but the embedded image immediately caught my eye because it’s nearly identical to the one featured in the banner on my own blog. The Thinking Blog is offering up space on the site for guest “thinkers” to share their views and thoughts. This follows a recent trend in the blogosphere: the guest blogger.

Is Google too perfect? That’s the concept that is discussed at Samanathon this week. Like Saman, I think I use Google a little too much. I love Gmail, I love Google Maps, and I don’t think I could live without Google Adsense or Analytics. “It was crazy, I couldn’t believe how perfect the system really was! Then, I read a story by Jason Clark titled “Is Google Becoming A God?” and I couldn’t agree with Jason more!!”

As your business (or blog) continues to grow, you will start to get inundated with a never-ending onslaught of emails. As if all that personal spam wasn’t enough already. Thankfully, Community Spark just posted up an article that helps you avoid getting swamped with emails. This is not about avoiding spam, per se, but rather about being efficient replying to customer inquiries and the like.

John Anthony of Career Ramblings dishes out six top tips for surviving (and succeeding) in the restaurant industry. My parents have been in the restaurant business for years and I can attest to the difficulty and challenges in running a successful restaurant. Let’s just say that I’m thankful that my own business is online/virtual.
