Does Post Frequency Mean More Traffic and Sales?

Posted on June 13th, 2007

Michael KwanSo if you haven’t noticed already local freelance writer and Pho Friend Michael Kwan (that’s him in the picture) has been blogging Monday to Friday on our blog for just over a month now. We decided to invite Michael to post on our blog because we wanted to see if you increase the post frequency if you increase the traffic to the blog.

The verdict is yes it does increase traffic. This month our traffic for unique visitors is double that of last month for the same period where we were only posting once a day. I am sure Michael would tell you it’s his great writing skills (and maybe it is).

So now that we have more traffic does that equate to more sales?

We have done some tracking and it appears that traffic from the blog generates about 1-2 sales a day with the current amount of traffic. One might think that if you were to increase the traffic more you could increase sales again. We will revisit this again as our traffic continues to grow as we have just started tracking sales from the blog.

I am left with a few questions though:

  • How many posts per day would be considered to many?
  • What do you think of Michael Kwan’s blogging on our blog?

Interesting observations, what kind of traffic is increasing? Return traffic from existing readers, or new additions to the fold? When I post a lot I see my RSS readership grow.

The one I am most interested in is Unique Visits which increased. Views and visits both increased as well.

Ack! You pulled a picture from my UBC days… the worst part was that I totally wasn’t expecting that picture to be taken in the first place.

I’m glad to hear that the extra blog posts have been bringing in more traffic (and sales). Yes, it’s all about my writing ability. :)

Anywhere from 1-3 posts a day is usually good. Anymore, and if I don’t read my Feeds for a day, I’ll end up with hundreds of new posts to read, and I’ll just skim through them all.

As for Michael Kwan’s posts, they’re okay. They tend to be a little to short, and his doesn’t put much of his own opinion into it. Only the facts get stated, with brings the usefulness of this Blog down. Anyone can post facts, it’s what gets added to the post that makes it good.

I post about twice a day. I find that if a blog posts more than 3 times a day… I zone a lot of content out. I love MICHAEL KWAN!
