Last time we let everyone know that Trac was installed and now we have subversion working. Matt (the subversion demigod) helped us with getting the subversion to work 100% on the new server.
So the next steps are (in no specific order):
- Setup a blog and mailing list to allow discussion and input from those who wish to participate.
- Start collecting names and emails of those interested in working on the projects.
- Create a way to assess the various users level of knowledge so we can provide them appropriate subversion access.
- Confirm 100% what the first project will be and setup the first Trac to reflect that.
Anything I missed? Any thoughts on these?

Sounds good, you don’t see this happening at other hosting programs.
I will be interested in help , but I’m not sure what i will be able to do that could help.

Yes, and after that, we’ll need to start discussing Goals so we can setup Trac so that everything will reflect those goals. (eg. the milestones) “Trunk” will probably be the only option under the “Versions” for creating a ticket, but that’s okay. :P

Oh, and for point number 3, I think if we write up a little test, that we can give to people, I think we’ll be able to assess people’s PHP-skills.
If we have various degrees of difficulty of the questions (eg. how would you write something out to the browser, how to do various MySQL things, etc), we’ll be able to mark the test and then from the results, we’ll be able to tell what their PHP/MySQL abilities are.

I would call it a niche (what a weird word)
Anyways that is a good idea Matt , but the thing is your going to have to get people who are good enough interested in this. I think most people who have enough skills to do this will do something on there own. I know your going to argue about how there is more than one person doing this project, but still some people like to do there own things.
For my skills , really i don’t know much php or my sql. I know enough i can follow directions and make very simple additions and changes.
