As most of you know we have released Phish Phinder to the public and there are already around 100 downloads or so.
When it comes to free software there are a few ways we promote it. Here is what we have done so far.
- Create a PAD file and upload it to the various software sites.
- Upload the software to Tucows and Download.com.
- Order a Press Release (should be out next week).
- Contact several of the large Phishing groups to ask them to test it.
We did submit it to the 2 largest software download sites but it will take almost a year for Tucows and Download.com to approve it. This surprised me and I was a little disappointed by the length of wait.Â
How would you promote this if you were wanting to get more people to download it?

Send out an email to your Newsletter subscribers.
Give away domains to people who review/write about it (like you did with your name change). This option has quite a bit of reach to new people.
Order up some Ad space on top websites/blogs.
Order up some ReviewMe’s.
Spread the word on some relevant Forums.
Order up a couple hundred stickers and post them all throughout Surrey. :P Every power pole, light pole, sign, building and traffic lights are fair game. :P
