Discussion: Violence in Schools?

Weekly Discussion

Unless you live under a rock you have probably heard of the Virgina Tech massacre that occurred this week. All of our staff send our condolences to the families and friends of those killed or injured. This is another example of violence in the school system that has been growing more and more prevalent in the last 10 years.

From Columbine to Dawson College we have seen these violent acts transpire at different geographical locations committed by a vast diversity of people. There are no obvious clues as to where or when this will happen again.  No telltale sign as to who will cross the line and who is simply spewing harmless nonesense.

I have a gut feeling though, that something has changed in our society in the last 10 years that has brought on this violence in our schools. What it is, I haven’t figured it out.

What do you think the cause is? What do you think can be done to fix this?

SubscribeIf you have a blog and you want more people to comment on the blog I suggest you install a subscribe to comments feature to it. I know that as I travel across the blog sphere that I tend to prefer commenting on sites that have this feature. The reason why I prefer it is because if someone else replies I like to be able to read it and then reply back in most cases.

Your blog is the start of a community even if you only have a handful of people reading it. A community is built on allowing people to comment on your posts letting them feel as they are a part of your community. The subscribe feature will foster your community to reply more often. I know the successful bloggers use the comments to create new posts and fuel the wants and needs of their communities.

If you don’t have this feature on your blog then add it now. Please!

For WordPress you can install the Subscribe to Comments Plug-in that we use.

Twisted Moose Rebranding

Published on Apr 17, 2007   //  News Worthy

As most of you know we are working on rebranding for BlueFur.com but what you may not know is that we had to also rebrand our VoIP business. We decided on a new name for it that we felt was unique and Canadian. Thus was born Twisted Moose.

We just finished the final draft of our logo which can be seen below…

Twisted Moose Logo

We feel the logo and name fits well with our up coming VoIP solutions. We will be doing something completely different then any other company. We will of course post news of that later when the site is live.

What do you think of the logo? and the name? Love him or hate him we would love to hear your feedback.

Impending Death of Text Link Ads

Text Link Ads LogoOkay so maybe my title is a bit over dramatic. But after reading Matt Cutts blog today that title may come true. Here is what Matt said…

“One thing I heard at was that people wanted a way to report paid links specifically. I’d like to get a few paid link reports anyway because I’m excited about trying some ideas here at Google to augment our existing algorithms.”

So what does that mean to companies like Text Link Ads, AdVolcano and Text Link Brokers?

It means that the market could dry up and that they could be out of jobs. If sites selling links are reported and Google were to ban or not count the PR from those sites then most buyers would stop buying. Many of the top 10 sites on the most common searches use some type of purchased link SEO to get in those positions. I think if you were to eliminate all of the paid links counting to PR then you would see a very different search results.

Reading through the lines some may think it means that Google wants to be the only one selling links on sites. What do you think?
