cPanel en Français
I know we do not push this as a major feature on our site but cPanel does support the French language. cPanel also supports Romanian, Catalan, Dutch, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish languages. This means that cPanel should be easier for those that speak another language.
As a multilingual society we will make your cPanel available in French. Just submit a support ticket to our staff and they can update your account to use French instead of English.
Please note none of our support staff are fluent in French enough to provide support in French at this time.
Online Hard Drive
We are currently in beta test mode for a new service we will be launching this year.
The service will allow you to connect, via your PC, to a hard drive over the internet. The service will not involve any tedious FTP program or web interface. You will be able to map our service as an actual hard drive into your PC and then save files to it. These files will be stored securely on the internet where you will be able to access them from any location (home or work). This setup will also allow you to share files between co-workers in various locations.
I know in the past when I was working on some number crunching, I would save the file and email it to myself so that I could edit it at another location. I have friends that take USB drives with them everywhere. While all of these ways do work, the problem is, eventually you will end up with an old version of a file somewhere in the end. An online hard drive will eliminate this from happening as well as the hassle of sending files or dragging around hardware.
We will post an update when the service is live. Pricing will be in the $1.25 CDN per GB of space area. The space will not be usable for hosting, just file storage.
We are still considering names for this service, so far we have BlueFur Drive (I know not very imaginative). If you have any ideas leave a comment.
BlueFur.com Tshirt Contest
We have had several requests from our customers for a BlueFur.com T-shirt. This has sparked our curiousity as to what those T-shirts should look like. So in the spirit of creativity, we thought this would be a great time to start a new contest and have you submit your most imaginative designs.  What do you think the front and back of the T-shirts should look like?
The contest is easy. Post a link to your mock ups of the back and front of what you would put on a BlueFur.com T-shirt in the comments of this post. We will pick a winner from the entries and award them not only a Free T-shirt but a $200 cash prize.
I know there are a lot of creative people out there so we look forward to seeing your ideas. If you’re not creative then enter our other contest still running on reviewing the Massive Technology show coming up.
Selling What Your Customers Need
In the next few weeks you will notice that we will be selling both FrontPage 2003 and Dreamweaver 8 on our BlueFur.com site.
After doing a quick search I believe we will be the only host in the world to offer these 2 software as a checkout item in conjunction with hosting. If you find another one post a comment.Â
These 2 software programs are used in the industry the most for designing sites. It would seem to only make sense that we sell these to our customers who are building sites. A general poll of customers showed that most of them went out and bought one of these 2 software programs immediately after purchasing hosting. When asked the majority of those said they would have purchased it at the same time as hosting if it was available.
I was reading that Amazon increased sales 25% by adding the “Customers who bought this item also bought”. So we will be working that model in to our checkout to see how well it works.
We are also working on partnering with a Canadian training company to offer live in class courses across Canada. The courses will cover FrontPage, Dreamweaver and basic Web Design. Once we have more details on the training we will post more details.Â
If there was anything you would have added on to your hosting purchase add it as a comment and we will look into it.
Geek of the Week

Congratulations to this weeks Geek Christian who own the site portugalcars.ca. He is our second Geek of the week and scores a point towards being Geek of the year. With Matthew picking up a point last week, this puts them in a deadlock for first. This weeks questions are:
- What version of Linux was created by Minnesota State University alumni?
- What Excell Short Cut Keys would you use to select an entire row?
- What DOS command would you use to clear the screen?
- How many impressions are in a CPM? and what does it stand for?
- What programing language uses the dot py extension?
