I am sure we have all seen a plethora of Paid Reviews in February and now at the beginning of March. The topic was brought up by a friend that they feel that all these Reviews are cheeping the experience of visiting that persons blog. When I asked if they felt the same way about commercials on TV or the Radio they said it’s not the same.
Personally I do not mind anything in moderation. If your blog is over run with just Paid Reviews then I most likely will not be a reader.
So this weeks discussion is do paid reviews cheepen the feel of blogs?

As long as it is disclosed its a paid review I think its a great idea, its so hard with a new site sometimes to get that shown to people esp if its a new idea, this is a way to introduce it easily and get some momentum.

Personally, I don’t mind it. As long as it’s a true review and is factual. It should also only be done like once every couple of weeks or less, and they should state at the beginning of the article that it’s a paid review.
Other then that, I pretty much think paid reviews are fine. It’s like commercials, we sometimes don’t want to see them, but they’re there either way, and we choose whether to pay attention to them or not.

What if the reviews are not something that does not make sense. Like if you did a review for a UK lawyer?

Well, the reviews have to be on topic, too. Like if you ran a blog about Money, and you did a paid review on a non-money-related site, I wouldn’t like that. Needs to be an on-topic paid review… But, I’ll probably always prefer when Blogs/Sites don’t do paid reviews.

The only time I think it does not cheapen the feel is if the item there talking about is in there nieche.

LOL, this one was actually a pretty hard one to answer. I’ve never really thought about Paid Reviews and what they do to the Blog/Site… I guess I have now, though. :P

For the time being, I’m not doing PayPerPost since there’s usually nothing that I’m interested in on that site. ReviewMe is much more appealing as they request me personally.
However, either way, there must be real blog content on the blog rather than just paid posts. Otherwise, what’s the point?

It’s a tuffy.
I find that if the post is well written and truthful .. well then power to you.
But if it is not well written and pointless then…..It wont be my cup of organic green tea.
Paid or non-paid.
It’s kinda funny to, because in the “real world” if i dont get paid for what i do, then people dont take me seriously.(happens alot with what i do).
But on the internet it almost seems to be the opposite.?
