BlueFur Ranking Well and SEO Book Review

It has been 11 days since we updated our domain to BlueFur.com. If you did a search for bluefur.com in Google 11 days ago you would have got a total of 4 results. Today if you do that same search today it shows 32,200 results. Another interesting thing is that we are already showing up in the top 30 for regular key words on Google. We have also moved right back to the same spot we were our main keywords in both MSN and Yahoo. I am very happy with these results which I thought would take 6 months or more.

If you have just started a site and not sure what Search Engine Optimization is then I do have a great book for you to read. I picked up this book to see what was new and any small pointers to improve our own SEO. The SEO Book may cost $79 US but I assure the 328 page book will help you improve your rankings.

Part of getting back has been thanks to our current Review Our New Name incentive.

SuperBowl XLIToday is Superbowl Sunday which means 80 million people will be watching big sweaty men throwing around the pig skin. If you are in Canada like me you may not get the US commercials. These are the commercials that everyone is talking about around the water cooler the next day.

If you do not a chance to see the commercials you can view them here.

How to Buy Deleting .ca Domain Names

Published on Feb 2, 2007   //  Marketing Tips

CIRA Deleting DomainsIt is still possible to pick up 3 letter .ca and word domains. You just need to know where to look and how to buy them.

Every 2 weeks CIRA the organization that manages the .ca domain provides a list of the domains to be released. You can see this list on there site here.

If you look at the list a few great grabs would be:

  • vsv.ca
  • unn.ca
  • gxt.ca

To own a .ca you do need to be a Canadian Citizen, Landed Immigrant or own a Canadian trademark or business.

Once you have found a soon to be released domain from CIRA you can then go one of 3 ways:

  1. You can wait and see if anyone else does grab it. This is the cheapest way but with the most risk.
  2. You can use a tool like our domain hook at BlueFurDomain.com to grab the domain on the renewal day. This does cost money but has minimal risk of not getting it.
  3. You can also use a service like Pool.com. If you do use Pool.com then they will most likely grab the domain before the other 3. They use 100′s of services to request every second to the registrar of deleting domains. If Pool.com does grab it you will have to pay a high fee and possible have to win the auction if anyone else wants the same domain. So the cost for this option can be very high but the risk is low as you know that you can purchase it but you just need to want it more.

Finding the right domain is not always the easiest thing to do but looking at deleted domains may help.

Review Our New Name & Get A Free Domain

Published on Feb 1, 2007   //  News Worthy

Well now that the change is almost done we would love to hear what you the people think of our new domain. This promotion is open to the first 50 participants so do not wait as free domains usually go fast. I came up with this idea of an adaptation on John Chows review for a linkback.

The rules are simple, review our new domain BlueFur.com and you will get a free .com, .net or .org to use how you wish. The review must be at least 300 words long and it must include a link to the bluefur.com home page and this post. We ask that you are honest with your review and state what you like and do not like. This offer is only open to the first 50 people.

Once the review is done, post a comment in this post with the link and a working email address. Once it is approved we will send you an email so you can claim your new domain name.

We look forward to reading your reviews. Let the games begin!
