Congratulations to Matthew who own the blog sharethemoneywith.us. He is our first Geek of the week and scores a point towards being Geek of the year. A few suggestions that we will be adding to the Geek of the week moving forward. The questions will be harder and we will not post answers to the question on the blog until the following Sunday.
This weeks questions are:
- What IP would you ping to ping your local host?
- Other then WEBrick, what are the other 3 server software’s you can run Ruby on Rails on?
- What famous Geek invented BeOS? and where did he work before that?
- Where did the name Google originate from?
- What would the command du –max-depth=1 do in Linux?

1. What IP would you ping to ping your local host?
127.0.0.1
2. Other then WEBrick, what are the other 3 server software’s you can run Ruby on Rails on?
Apache, LightTPD and LiteSpeed
3. What famous Geek invented BeOS? and where did he work before that?
Jean-Louis Gassee, who had previously worked as an Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.) executive.
4. Where did the name Google originate from?
It came from a misspelling of the word Googol (which is a mathematical term)
5. What would the command du -max-depth=1 do in Linux?
Nothing (:P), but the command “du -–max-depth=1″ (notice the 2 dashes/hyphens/whatever you want to call them. Must’ve been a typo…) would output subdirectories and sizes to 1 layer (tier).

Maybe they choose to use Matthew as not to confuse people with the Matt (me) under the “Top Commentators” list, on the sidebar… :P Just a thought, it would make sense, though…
